i have a THOMAS HOUGHTON married to ELIZABETH CLARKSON, while looking for the family i found they had a daughter ANN born 16th MAY 1801 parents THOMAS HOUGHTON and BETTY CLARKSON, but also listed onFAMILY SEARCH is ANN born 16th MAY 1800 parents THOMAS and ELIZABETH HOUGHTON, can anyone tell me if they are the same person, if so why the year difference in birth, if they are the same person i may find other children ,i have seven with ELIZABETH CLARKSON as mother, can anyone help, please thanks for your time EILEEN

Can't get on the site to check, but I suspect the last entry is a submitted one, not an extracted one and they don't know Elizabeth's maiden name AND they made a typo when copying the year of birth! Go with the extracted records. OC

Having checked on Family Search (which is dreadful at the moment) the record with Thomas and Betty is one extracted from the pariah records (and stands a reasonable chance of being correct) the other(s) - I found two - are submitted. I would say that they are the same family and either the person who extracted the record wrote the wrong year or the submitter has put the wrong year. You will need to check the parish registers.

thank you ANDREA and OLD CRONE , i did suspect they were the same, i have quite a few gaps in the births and wondered if i should be looking for more children, oh well onward and upward, im still trying to find THOMASs parents thanks a lot for your time and effort good luck, best wishes EILEEN
