An Olde Crone Report 17 May 2007 21:10

Malcolm I have an interesting set of Banns where no marriage took place. Very puzzled, I moved on, to find later that same year, the potential groom married someone else. Even worse - the first potential bride was found dead in a field, 'of childbed, and her bastard infant, unshriven'. This was in 1748. She was barely 19 years old. OC

Hi Barcardi. Banns do not always mean that a marriage takes place. Malcolm.

Hi The banns give the names of the couple and say if they are of that parish or the parish that they are from (if your lucky), it then gives the dates that the banns were read out an by who.
