Hi - I was wondering if anyone could look up someone on Scotland Census for me... not sure which years they were done, but the name is James McCall, b 1842, married Catherine (unknown surname), b 1846. They had a daughter, Agnes McCall, b 1878 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, I believe. Thank you so much in advance! Carole

Hi, Ozibird!! Many thanks and so quick!! I do not think that this is my James as there's no mention of a daughter, Agnes (my mam's gran, born 1878).... thanks for trying anyway! Regards, Carole (Canada)

Carole, Angela may be a mistranscription of Agnes, so don't discard completely. It was the only likely family to come up on the search. Unfortunately there is no way to view the images of Scotland's censuses so I can't check for you. Perhaps you should request a lookup for Agnes's birth. Ozi.

Hi Glitter Baby! Yes, this looks like it!! The dates are corect for James and Catherine is spelled with a K (right date) Agnes was born in 1878, so it's dead on too!!! Is there a street address?? Also, is there a marriage for James and Katherine? so I can order a Marriage Certificate, find out James' father's name. Were there any more children for them? Many thanks!!! Cheers, Carole

Hi Glitter Baby! Thank you once again! Interesting the 1891 Census Info.. would an industrial school be a live-in school? must be as it says 'inmate'.. wondering if this is my Agnes (it is spelled McColl - I know that could be mispelled, but also wondering if James and Catherine would be able to afford to send her to this school??). Could be though! I think I will try Scotlands People site too! Thanks for the tip. I don't mind buying credits if it gets me somewhere - I have used up hundreds on Genesreunited and gotten no entries at all for Agnes (apart from her marriage to Arthur)... wondering if she was even born in Glasgow? Some entries for Helen McCall, etc., it says Ireland for place of birth.... maybe Agnes was born there also? Is there an Ireland People site????? 'talk' soon! Cheers Carole PS It's Mothers Day here in Canada!!
