My dear old nan always said that way back in our family someone was a 'Bareback rider with the circus'. She also claimed we were connected with Robert Burns the poet. Have proved she was right about Robert Burns but dont know where to start with the Circus connection. Any ideas. Thanks Helen.

http://users.nwon*com/pauline/Travellers.html Hi Helen Try the above link, i was looking for travellers and it was useful - there are others. It might be worth doing a 'google' search for circus history etc. Good luck - Judith

Helen This website has a section for Circus ancestor research - it's a forum where you can post queries. http://www(.)fairground-heritage.org.uk/forum/ (remove the brackets) Also, another huge circus name of the Victorian era was 'Lord' George Sanger (Sanger's Circus). Regards Athena
