hi jeanette sorry i was getting a little confused, yes it is william cottom not smith, but i dont need him. on the 1851 i have a cottom lodging with the smiths and a smith being a servent to the cottoms ... think i'll give my brain a rest for a while. thank you for your help though and every one else on this thread i really appreciate it!!!! thanks once again tracy
