FamilyFogey Report 10 May 2007 14:58

Hi Guys I received a death cert yesterday for a little boy Richard Henry Rodda who died on 12th August 1848 at what looks like Hockley Terrace, Birmingham aged 4. Cause of death was 'Taking Sulphuric Acid' verdict Accidental death. The informant was the Coroner for Birmingham John Birt Davies. And the death was registered on 21st Sept 1848. Although the cert doesn't state a date for an inquest - considering the word 'verdict' on there and the fact the informant was the Coroner and the length of time between death and registration leads me to think there was an inquest. I would be greatful if anyone has access to newspaper archives for Birmgham around that time could do a search for me for any details? Little Richard was the son of Richard Burrows Rodda a Gunsmith and a Gentleman. Thanks! Alex
