I have been given some help on a relative WILLIAM KEMPS. I was now wondering if its possible to trace him back further- he was born in 1836, Ireland, and emigrated to Scotland due to the potato famine. Just wondering if its at alll possible to trace the family bac further. Thanks again, Michael

Hello there. There are a few (not a lot) of William Kemps on IGI (familysearch) I found one that looks interesting. Its a start, maybe? William KEMP Sex: M Event(s): Birth: C. 1836 Cavan, Ire. Parents: Father: William KEMP Mother: Jane KEMP also if you put 'Ireland' in GR's Record/Tips Board search box, you might find someone on GR that is doing look-ups for Ireland? Good luck anyway. Babz ;-)

The name Kemps is not particularly Irish. It's possible that the family went from Scotland to Ireland and then returned to Scotland. Jim
