I must say I personally can't find Thomas Henrys birth. It was like he was never born but he does appear on the census'. Job & Harriet weren't the children of Willia & Caroline however they did have a son called Job. I have ordered Jobs birth certificate. Should arrive this week. it will give the mothers maiden name. I never knew that about the birth registration not being compulsory! Thanks for that info! |

Hmm - did they have twins called Job and Harriet? Or do these children belong to another William Mountain - the one who married Harriet Hartley, presumably! Alfred's birth is registered in 1850, by the way, on Yorksbmd site. OC |

I don't see a birth for Thomas Henry. Perhaps he was born before the marriage? Rose |

Janet, I believe the first child was born closer to 1847. They're on the 1851 census mistranscribed as Monaton with a 4 year old son. 21 John's Court, Bradford, Yorkshire John Monaton, head, 27, cordwainer Caroline, wife, 27 Thomas H., son, 4 Alfred, son, 8 months All born Bradford. 2 lodgers, Enoch & Sarah Smith. Oops, just noticed he's a clerk in 1861 but the 2 children match up, That's how I found them. Margaret |

I will have to order one of the childrens birth certificates then. I never thought! It will have the maide name on. It was definately Caroline as she features on all the census'. Thanks for the idea! |

Can only find William Mountain to Harriet Hartley in 1856. Perhaps Caroline died and her married her sister? Birth certs of the children are the way to go. OC |

I am trying to find the marriage details of William Mountain & Caroline ?Hartley. They were born in Bradford 1824/1825 and had their first child 1849 so I assume they married before then. Thanks |
