Pitman passenger/sailor to Bermuda early 1700s

This is a long shot. John Henry Pitman married in Somerset Bermuda on 20 Feb. 1783. He represents my earliest Pitman ancestor at this point. The family was quite poor, barely scraping together a living it appears. I wonder if this has added to my difficulties in tracing the family back to Great Britain. The family was white and Anglican. I don't know much more. Any help/leads would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Ruth (Pitman)Douglas
