The children are all registered under Shepherd as well!! so does look as if they were not married. Mary V born Q1 1918 Fulham is NOT registered under Shepherd so different family? Have checked 1914 and 13 for births, none there.

Good spot, that was going to be my next step, look at the name variations. But,it does not fit with Thomas still being a babe in arms, so info wrong somewhere.

I have found the deaths for 2 Sene`s in Exeter who could be related. Michael age 4 Mar qtr 1942 and Bessie age 75 Dec qtr 1943. Could they be John and Mary`s grandson and John`s mother? Nana

There was another - my uncle John. He was one of the older siblings and lived in Poplar, London and probably died there. Thanks once again. Pat

My dads middle name was Philip. Was he registered as James Philip SENE on his birth certificate or James Philip Shepherd?

Hi Patricia James P was registered under the name of Shephard as well as Sene. He was registered once, but under both names, the 'code' is the same. Keith put this - I take it this is him. James P Sene 1924 Q2 5b-108 MMN Shepherd The codes at the end are the Volume and Page Numbers. If you want to send for the birth certificate (or any certificate) you use these codes on your application. You can order certificates online via the GRO - this is only the 'index' - like the index to a book. You need to order the certificates to see the full information regarding full names and so on.
