Thanks for this. It seems as if they are on the 1901 census as someone emailed me to let me know!!! The reason I couldn'f find anything was as I was looking under Maragaret Donaghy and they obviously called her Catherine! What a family I have!!!

I'm trying to find the 1st wife of James Henry Amer and have the 2 I found on BMD. Apart from purchasing his wedding certificate, is there any other way of confirming who he married? I will buy the wed cert, but wanted to close all other options first. Ta

Julie, MMN isn't on Mary, I checked that one already lol My GGrandmother had 6 children with a man she wasn't married to, yet they were all registered in his name and her married and maiden name on the certs. It is my first :) Don't know what it is. Said we didn't want to know. Think I kinda like the surprise. (thought your post said big so I answered that too!) Think it's gonna be huge though from the scan pic lol

Darksecretz Report 13 Dec 2006 13:12

righto.. according to the index, BOTH grandad and John are reg'd as amer with MMN as Donaghy which would indicate they WERE married, just checking on Mary now, but whats betting that MMN isnt on that bit LOL Tracey, is this your first? and do you know whether B/G?

Would be nice to be able to tie up the loose ends. Might be an idea to get the marriage cert too, to find out which poor woman he deserted lol

Would certainly explain why no-one knows much about him. Skeletons aren't generally talked about, especially if they resulted in children born out of wedlock. I had a quick look in 1901 for Margaret, but couldn't see anything positive. Wonder if she's a dark horse too? lol

Excellant! It sounds like it could be him as on James Claire Amer's birth certificate he is a printers manager! Yeah getting somewhere. Sounds like James Henry was a bit of a naughty boy then! Julie - have ordered Margaret's birth cert so should arrive this week.
