I have a Mary A Eady on the 1881 census she was 57 born c1824 it says she was unmarried,I am not so sure. I can't find a record of her birth or marriage or anything on any of the previous census. there was another Mary ann Eady (mary A Eady's daughter) who was born 1846 but I have got info on her. now I have found a Mary ann Haskey (aged 17 on the 1841 census) born in the same village c1824 is this my mary a eady? the village is Long Melford Suffolk. I can't find any later traces of her. can anyone find any trace of either Mary A Eady or Mary Ann Haskey please help it is driving me nuts! thanks Di

Have you thought of buying the daughters birth certificate - that would give her father (hopefully) and the mothers maiden name. Where does the 1881 give as her place of birth and who are with her then? Does the 1881 say Long Melford or just Suffolk? Just found it on 1881 - the kids look a bit young to be her only kids? Possibly a second marriage? Looks like the way forward is to buy the birth certificate - there is a bunch of Eadys in Long Melford. What census is the daughter Mary Ann in with her?

Dont know if this is of help or not in the 1851, completely wrong age for husband and no age at all for this Mary Ann Eady: William is actually 38 on the image. They are living as lodgers in Lavenham, a stones throw from Long Melford. Mary Ann Eady Thomas Eady 14 William Eady 58 Susan Stearn 63 William Stearn 63

Hi Di I think this is an enumerators error or hard to read, the age to me on the 1881 census looks like 37, not 57 - making her approx birth year 1844/5 For reference 1881. Mary A. Eady Age: 57 (37???) Estimated birth year: abt 1824 Relation: Head Gender: Female Where born: Melford, Suffolk, England Civil parish: Long Melford County/Island: Suffolk Country: England Street address: Chapel Green Occupation: Horse Hair Weaver Registration district: Sudbury Sub-registration district: Melford ED, institution, or vessel: 8 Household Members: Name Age Mary A. I think you have solved it - the age was wrong! I never thought of that, that is why I had two Mary A Eady but never on the same census at the same time, because it was the same person, thank you so much!!!!!!
