Hi I think all of us on here know how you feel, and we are all excited for you. Family disinterest seems to be quite common because you either have the genealogy bug or you don't, there isn't any 'in-between' is there. I am even having a Bacardi Breezer to celebrate with you!!!! Regards Gail

Stuart, my partner does humour me a little, but i think thats because it keeps me quite (inbetween jumping frantically around the house) I've been feeling really down lately because i lost my job 2 weeks ago and i'm not used to not doing anything. Thankyou for keeping my entertained today! I so want to phone all my Aunties and Uncles on that side of the family to tell them but my mum said that they would think i was mad. I just can't get over this lack of interest. Maybe if i found wealth they would be more interested, but you've just found me a line of hat makers, now how exciting is that! Thanks again Rachel

In theory Rachel, yes lol People change their names all the time though, so you can use which ever you like best :) I get excited when I find new stuff about family. If I try to tell hubby, he's just not bothered. My mum is a little better, but not much lol

Wow, thankyou so much! well does that mean that i should be Rachel Liversedge then? I really dont think that i would ever have got this far without your help. I just don't understand why some people dont 'get' family history. I've just phoned my dad up to tell him he's got the wrong name and he wasn't un intereseted, lets say just not bothered. Maybe he couldn't tell what i was saying because i'm soooooo excited:-) I'll keep you posted about what the certificate says but i think you have solved it! Cheers Rachel

Hi Rachel I think this is looking very likely, with the marriage and then the death, it certainly seems as if he was illegitimate, and took Percy's name when his mother married. Certificates will prove it of course -PLEASE let us know the outcome as it has driven us all mad!! Regards Gail

Hi found this marriage Marriages Dec 1903 Etherington Piercy Dewsbury 9b 1127 Liversidge Annie Gertrude Dewsbury 9b 1127 Val

Rachel Report 8 Nov 2006 18:55

This sounds a perfect solution. So should i assume from this that Percy may not have been is father after all and that he adopted the name when his mother married Percy? Thankyou sooooo much!

Hi Rachael I think that having that marriage and that death found for you has cracked the case because here is a birth of a Alec Cooke Liversidge Year of Registration: 1899 Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec District: Dewsbury County: Yorkshire Volume: 9b Page: 619 This fits in with the mother's maiden name and also the Alec Cooke L in death. What do you think. Regards Gail

Yeah i've tried but i still cant to seem to find a perfect match. I wonder what the chances were that his birth wasn't registered?

Don't know whether this will help but found this death record for an Alec Cooke L Etherington died in the March quarter of 1971 in Wakefield registration district, Volume 2 d page 1633 . Gives his date of birth as 5th November 1899. If you get the death certificate it should give the deceased date and place of birth, occupation and address, and the name and address of the informant as well as the cause of death. I hope this helps

Hi Gail, No i'm afraid Alexander isn't Alec because i've found him living in Sandal Magna in the 1901 census and his farther is a David. Thankyou anyway. Can anyone think of ny other documents post 1901 census or/and his birth. That will have his place of birth on? Rachel

Rachel

Rachel Report 8 Nov 2006 15:12

Yes that could be him. Wakefield is the nearest registry office to Calder Grove where he got married. And we cant seem to find any suitable Alecs. I've just ordered Frances Evelyn Etherington's certificate on the provision that her fathers name is Percy.

Hi again, The marriages are good, but it's bringing Alecs age down when he got married. But thinking about it the girl he married was 17 rather than the 18 which she claimed on the certificate! Is it likely that a furrier would have a cloths shop? I'm really appreciating all your help.
