Jim, Francis isn't on the 51 Census. I only presume he got missed out as he was at sea. However, his first wife, along with Ellen, Harriet and Phebe (The kids) are on there. Elizabeth was from Warham, Norfolk.

You know what? I don't know. I must have found the marriage record for his first wife. Hang on. Will find it.

it certainly seems odd that daughter Phoebe is christened PHOEBE COZEN CUSHING if he is not married to Phoebe Cousins (however it is spelt). Jim

Yep, does seem weird don't it. I can't seem to find the marriage of Francis & Elizabeth now. I must have got the name Chamberlain from somewhere.

Just been looking through other Census info' and Phoebe's birthplace has changed from 61 to 71. Blakeney, to Warham (Elizabeth was also born in Warham)

checked on freebmd and couldn;t find a marriage between Cushing and Chamberlain. Marie

I have no idea where i got chamberlain from. I usually fill all the 'source' things in on FTM, but for some reason this one is blank.

So the question seems to be - is the person shown on the 1851 census Phoebe or Elizabeth? or are they the same person? Jim

They could be the same person. I'm still beating myself up about the Chamberlain thing. Why didn't i write it down??? I usually do! I probably dreamt it.

Well just looking at Anna's birth certificate (Francis and Phoebe's daughter) And Anna's middle name is Elizabeth. Now, if you were Phoebe, would you give your child your husbands late wifes name?

Yep. What I'm going to do is Order that death certificate, and a birth certificate of one of the older kids. Hopefully that'll help me. - Marie, i'm always dreaming things and not remembering whether or not they're real! The other day, I was trying to work out if someone was actually pregnant, or if I dreamt it! (Still don't know, lol)
