Carol have you found John 1837 on any census?? I've just looked for Lovett births in 10b from 1858 to 1860 and there's only one (to a woman called Hannah in Carlisle). I think you're going to have to do this in stages. Get the MC, that will give an age (hopefully not the unhelpful 'of full age') as I'm not convinced he was born 1837. Also hopefully it will give a father. And the witnesses may be of help. Then you'll have to work back once you have the MC |

jools yes 1871 cencus i think its him Houghton Le Spring Co Durham ,a travelling auctioneer living in caraven says he was born Kendal thats all the cencus ive got,not sure about it catch you later carol |
