I have traced a gentleman who is possibly my grandfather and he was killed in a mining accident in 1928. I have found the records for that but really want to who was living with him at his address at that time. There do not seem to be any electoral roles left for the Newcastle area for 1928. Is there anywhere I can contact who might hold any records? Thans Annette

Hi Annette, You could try googling for the miners trade union in Newcastle. The trade unions often have records, and if it was a mining accident maybe the widow and children were given some financial help. The national archives site might help too: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and the local newspaper archives. good luck!

There is a thread over on Tips board about websites for miners.
