Don't know how they could make Grotty out of Theresa but I have looked and I can't find Theresa on the census and I can't find a death for her so maybe!!!. Wonder if it is Hetty!!!! Germaine x

I am willing to take on any sensible suggestions (and some not so sensible!!). But would the Theresa listing be too early if she is 4 months old at the end of March?

right, now you can call me mad, BUT, what if she IS thomas's twin, is she registered as FEMALE guy, ie not named yet, but tommy was named, or maybe she was poorly and they didnt expect her to live, just a thought julie

Germaine

Germaine Report 27 May 2006 22:11

Ah yes if she was born Sept that would make her about 6 month perhaps they got mixed up clutching at straws LOL Germaine x

But their ages are different on census. Thomas is 1 Dorothy is 4 months so they had to have been born at different times.

That crossed my mind as well but they had eight other children that I know of and registered all of them. Why not this one? Thought I was doing really well til now, don't want to let it beat me!!

Thanks to you all for helping. Will put this one down for the time being and come back to it another day when I come up with some bright idea as to the solution! Got a marriage cert today for her sister so think I will concentrate on trying to find her children for a while. Off to Ancestry for me!! Thanks again Laura

Probably no help at all but.....we eventually discovered my g/fathers birth registration 2 years after his birth!! Apparently he`d been poorly as a baby and maybe they then forgot!?

hi thanks for suggestions, they all seem plausible. thought she could have been registered somewhere else, but the only other family i know of is the mothers, and they were in Essex, Tendring district. The typo may be right, will have to check the 1901 census to see if she is there. Will let you know. Regards laura

Update Hi All Have checked the 1901 census and there is no newborn Dorothy Gough. The only one in the right area says she was 1 last birthday so I don't think its her. Did a quick check on freebmd for a death as well but there isn't one. So Dorothy May Gough could be her. Can anyone see the image the data is copied from to check its a typo or do I have to order the cert and check? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Laura
