If you go to your messages you will find a message from me asking for your email address, you can reply to it and be sure that it will not get posted anywhere and I will send an email with the original image as a tiff file, which is how I get the image downloaded from British Origins.

It looks like Sarah Burnham a 40 year old widow. With a provisions store. I wrote the street nmber down wrong before it is 43 , not 53. If you want I can send you a copy of the original image and you can make up your own mind.

hi rachel please read all of this thread its confusing if you dont. chris* . that john could well be her dad or her uncle ( who she said was her dad to save face so she could name someone as her father instead of putting unknown on her marriage cert) i just want some one to find her on 1871 please.

Just in case the Dawley Edward is the correct one, here he is with his siblings. Please forgive me - I am not trying to be rude but I hope we are not missing something important here: Added by Chris Far From Home King on 23/05/2006 11:16:01 hi im back ,. just been looking at her marriage cert,it states Elizabeth Sarah withington was a spinster and her dad was John Withington a dec'd puddler. It says he is deceased - He isn't alive in 1859 when she is born so he can't be alive in later census - unles the mother is telling porky pies - which of course she may well be.

Rachel Report 23 May 2006 13:06

I know I am late coming into the conversation here, but if her father is John Withington dec'd Puddler he can't have married her mother in law in in 1873 coz' he's passed over to the other side if you get what I mean. Another train of thought that comes to me is perhaps Eliza was in the workhouse because she was pregnant and couldn't support herself because her hubby had just died. Not that I can see an immediate death that fits the bill - the nearest would be march quarter of 1848 which is a tad early. Just a thought. I may have found Elizabeth Sarah Short ne Withington / Sarah Eilazabeth which ever way she want to call herself on the 1871 census as was the original request. Elizabeth Withington 12 years, Domestic servant, 53 High street, Fenton, Staffordshire. Born (looks like) Missgate? I am very familiar with Satffordshire names and I really think it is made up or she just didn't know. Enumeration district 4, schedule 53, folio 90, page 10, entry 15.

Jess Bow Bag Report 23 May 2006 09:33

now if this is the 1891 to which you refer in'm really REALLY confused! Anthony is her SON, not her husband Anthony D Short abt 1885 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesborough Yorkshire Eliza J Short abt 1886 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Middlesborough Yorkshire Sarah E Short abt 1859 West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England Wife Middlesborough Yorkshire Thomas Short abt 1857 Walker, Northumberland, England Head Middlesborough Yorkshire ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1901 which at least brings in the WHITTINGTON ( SO ARE YOU SAYING JANE SHORT RE-MARRIED ?) Ada Rosetta Short abt 1889 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Middlesbrough Yorkshire Albert Short abt 1898 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesbrough Yorkshire Anthony Dixon Short abt 1885 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesbrough Yorkshire Eliza Jane Short abt 1886 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Middlesbrough Yorkshire Elizabeth Short abt 1858 West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England Wife Middlesbrough Yorkshire Fred Short abt 1895 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesbrough Yorkshire John Edward Short abt 1894 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesbrough Yorkshire Rachael Short abt 1900 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Middlesbrough Yorkshire Sarah Elizabeth Short abt 1891 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Daughter Middlesbrough Yorkshire Thomas Short abt 1856 Walker on Lyne, Northumberland, England Head Middlesbrough Yorkshire Thomas Gibbon Short abt 1892 Middlesborough, Yorkshire, England Son Middlesbrough Yorkshire Jane Withington abt 1828 Hougton La Spring, Durham, England Mother Middlesbrough Yorkshire
