Suzy Yes that was my thoughts too at first that Robert must have been the father, but maybe it was one of the girls that had her out of wedlock. How do I get a certificate? Linda

Suzy

Suzy Report 12 Apr 2006 13:52

Linda I really think you are going to have to order the birth certificate, in that case. I was thinking that Robert must be her Father because of the surname Kelly, but if one of the daughter's was the Mother, she probably wasn't married. If you get the certificate, don't be surprised if the Fahter's name is blank. Good luck, and let us know the outcome. Suzy

Suzy, Yes thats about the size of it My grandmother Mary Jane, Dominics and Janes youngest daughter raised my 'Aunt Mabel' as her own daughter and my dads sister but we know she wasnt her real daughter but her niece so I would love to find out which one of My Grandmothers (Mary Jane Kelly) brother or sister was her real parent.

Suzy

Suzy Report 12 Apr 2006 13:40

So, just to clarify things, the Mabel Kelly born in 1902 is the Grand-daughter of Dominic and Jane, but you are not sure who her parents are. Is that correct? Suzy

This looks pretty promising

I have had a quick look on the 1861 and 1851 census, but I think her name is too common. There were no births for Barlow. Sorry. You will have to get the marriage cert to get her parents' names, I think. Suzy

Linda, I meant a Mabel for Dominic & Jane, not the 1902 one. I've changed it now to Mary Jane, as I know Allendale comes under Hexham district lol (PS - tonight?? It's only lunchitme lol)

Linda

Linda Report 12 Apr 2006 13:17

mmmm........... Thanks Back to the drawing board, I guess Tracy, My Mabel was the first one you found 1902, Thanks I find it amazing that you have a name in your family you are looking for that you think is pretty unusual and them you start searching and find that its as common as muck and you find heaps of them. I shouldnt have started this again tonight as now I can see its going to be a long night, lucky I have tomorrow off work :-)

Jane's in 1861, you could look up and cross reference her name with Dominic in the Marriage indexes if you find it and see if one of them is her. Jane Atthey abt 1848 Barlow Winlaton, Durham, England Granddaughter Tanfield Durham Jane Urwin abt 1847 Barlow, Durham, England Daughter Prudhoe Castle Northumberland Jane Whitfield abt 1851 Barlow, Durham, England Daughter Chopwell Durham Typical, t'was none of them:)))

Suzy

Suzy Report 12 Apr 2006 13:15

According to the 1881, their first daughter was born around 1867. I can't see a marriage for 1866 onwards, so I would search before then on the Ancestry Beta index as suggested. You probably won't have to search many years, if Jane was born in 1849. Suzy

Maybe you can find it on the Free Ancestry Index site or he may have married an Irish Girl while visiting Ireland in 1871? Oh well sge wasn't an Irish girl (born) www.ancestry*co*uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx Don't forget to change the * for .

I didn't look at the spouse details, but that was the only marriage for Dominic Kelly between 1866 and 1900. You could get a birth cert instead, which will show you her maiden name... Birth Jun 1880 Kelly Mary Jane Hexham.10b 312
