Susan I can't find the 1926 marriage either, under all the spellings of Davie I can think of at this time in the afternoon. To give us a start it might be a good idea to dig out the marriage certificates and double check the spellings. Once that is done we should be able to tell fairly quickly whether we are on the right track. Sheila

Susan How far have you looked for Lesley/Leslie Llewellyn Dickin? I've looked to the end of 1903 without success. One thing is certain, they are out there somewhere and if they are out there somewhere then the wonderful people on these boards will find them! Sheila

He was born in 1900 so the two mentioned are too early. We have no idea where he was born but other relations all come from London area. Will look again at marriage cert to see where this was and will let you know later on today. It's lovely to have some suggestions though because we have been getting nowhere and having other peoples views and thoughts may give us inspiration.

Hi Sue, Is the birth for Northampton in the right area? The marriage certificate will only say how they spelt the name on that day. I have a William whos name was Haley on his birth, Hailey on his marriage and Hayley on his death certificates. Chances are his mother may not have been able to read so could not say to the registra it was spelt wrong. You could put father name as a checking point to make sure it is the right one if you deside to send for the birth certificate.

We do have the marriage cert but not with us at the moment and cannot remember off the top of my head but will make contact again later today.

As someone who had the surname Dickins for 24 years you might well find this name spelt as with an (i) or (e) or an (x) and with or without an s Sue

It's a shame because we have had no luck either. It looks as though this is the end of the line for hubbie's side. If anyone does get any inspiration, would love to know and thanks for all help so far. Sue

where did he marry i suppose would be a start. lesley would be very unsual spelling for a male.

I can't find him on 1901 census. No matches.

I have checked the birth index 1866 - 1920 for Cyril Dickin (none), Cyril Dicken (one, born 1916), Cyril Dickins (four, all wrong) and Cyril Dickens (22, the closest being the one I gave you). Liz

Hi Liz His surname was definitely Dickin. Hubbie's mum is convinced he was born in the last quarter of 1900. He had a brother who was about one year to 18 months younger and his name was Lesley Llewelyn Dickin who we cannot find either. We understand at some stage they both were fostered. Sorry this is all so vague but this is all the info that hubbie's mum has given us.

Sorry it has taken so long but we both had the info in front of us last night, up dated the message but we didn't get any more suggestions from anybody, so thought would try again today. On the marriage cert it was on the 7 November 1925. Cyril George Dickin aged 25 married Beatrice Jane Davie aged 22 in Hackney. Cyril's father was Arthur George Dickin (deceased), occupation traveller. Witness was Leslie Llewelyn Dickin and he is Cyril's brother. Does anybody have any more ideas as to how we can find Cyril as his seems to have disappeared off the face of the earth.
