Ann you cant be sure unless you search the parish records but the fact that Jane called 2 of her children George & Elizabeth could be a good sign. Georgina. |

Too early for any certificates - no certs until 1837 (sept I think). Parish records are your ONLY way |

Thank you both very much for your replies. Not very experienced at this so I don't know where to go from here. Is there any other way that I can find out if it is the right family, other than ordering Jane's birth certificate, which funds won't allow at the min? Am I right in thinking that that's the only way? All suggestions gratefully received! |

If Georgina has the right family, you'll find George & Elizabeth on the 1851 at ho107/2368 f52 (I think ancestry managed to mistranscribe them as gatton) |

Can anyone unearth any records of the family of Jane Gofton in Filey. She was born around 1815 & married John Killingbeck in 1837. I have them as Killingbecks from then onwards, but nothing about Janes family. I guess baptism records would be useful? Would be really grateful for any help! Thanks |
