Hello Charlotte Thank you for your kind offer. I am looking to find the birth of: SUSANNAH WILKINS She was christened at the British Chaplaincy in NAPLES, ITALY in October 1844. If it helps, her brother Abraham was also christened there in February 1842, and her sister EMMA was christened there in August 1847. Their father was a marine engineer, called Thomas Wilkins. Many thanks in advance. Suzy

Hi Suzy I'm afraid that Consular Birth Registrations only start in 1849, just too late for any of yours. I did check the Army and Marine Registers for the same period, just in case (they start much earlier) but without any success. Charlotte

Hi Charlotte Please could you check out the (marine) death of Harriet Dixie who died Feb 1848 at sea off Gibralter, apparently she was stretchered on board but died later. Sounds grim... Many thanks Felicity

Paul Report 13 Mar 2006 14:05

Hi, i wonder if you can help me. I am trying to track down Elizabeth Snook birth record. On the census she is down as being a British Subject but born in France about 1811. It would be interesting to find out what her parents were doing in France at that time. In the 1841 census she is living in Frome, somerset and married to Robert Hill. I think her mother was named Sarah and was born in Somerset about 1771. Many Thanks. Paul Hill.

Hi Felicity Sorry, no sign of a death at sea for Harriet Dixie - The Marine records cover that period but Consular Deaths don't start until 1849, I did check in case it was Registered late as a Consular Death but it isn't there. The Wilsons are a bit early , apart from Army and Regimental Registers the rest don't start until 1837 apart from Consular Deaths 1849. Sorry I can't be more help Charlotte

Charlotte Thank you for your kind offer. I have searched the overseas indices on 1837 for the following with no success. Marriage...Could be Army or Consular in Egypt. AMOS ELCOCK (may be recorded as ALCOCK) to Mary Elenor (?) It would be between 1881 and 1889...Sorry I can't be more precise. And if I'm not being cheeky... Birth....Only child of the above and could be Army or Consular in Egypt. Baptism Certificate was issued at the Cairo Citadel dated 15 November 1889. Grandmother always said she was born 28 October 1889. CAROLINE ELENOR ELCOCK (the Baptism cert is very fragile and possibly reads as ALCOCK) Thanks again Chris
