Sheila, I think you have the correct spelling of the middle name, ive spoken with my mum and she assures me it is spelt the way you have written it... Hi Racheal, looking at the marriages for Grimsby I came across this.... Lily Trenawath Fairfield, married in 1935 daughter of Edward. sounds so much like your nans middle name,I wondered if it could be the same, just spelt different. Sheila.

Does he happen to live in Cleethorpes, or is he still alive do you know? I know my nan has a brother called Bill and I am wondering whether this is him, she hasnt seen him for over 30 years... Hi ,there is a William Frederick Fairfield father Edward, married in Grimsby in 1938,he was 29 years old, Could he be yours?

In response - not yet lol.... I dont know whether or not the parents married if you mean my Nanna's parents, my mum mentioned in conversation that to her knowledge they were unmarried. She is off to seek out her birth certificate this week to hopefully find the original or get a copy of it... Hi Rachel! :-) So the parents COULD have married around about 1944 ish. Have you managed to find the time to look on Ancestry at the Marriage indexes ? I KNOW you have been busy, communicating with me .... !!! Elaine ;-)

In answer to the question below - She has 2 older Brothers known as Terrence and Anthony - Terry was born in 1944 or around that time and Anthony was born in the 1950's and then she had a sister called Jeanette who was a few years younger than Terry. Both Jeanette and terry are both now sadly deceased. Does your Mum have older brothers/sisters? Might helpt suggest a more exact wedding date.

Hi Not having much joy finding Ted's marriage, though!!! Have been looking for his surname because it occurred to me that though Eugene's maiden name is Fairfield, she might have married as Mercer (ie been married before) and Playle is a less common surname than Mercer! Does your Mum have older brothers/sisters? Might helpt suggest a more exact wedding date. How old do you think your Nan is? I'll see if I can find her birth cert ref. S:>

Jeanette: In answer to this; can't see a Eugenie Mercer in oct1/4 1926 or Jan 1927 or Fairfield when was your mum born? it will have her maiden name next to your mums name in index. my mum was born on 15th October 1958 in Grimsby... some of her relative information may go back to Rugeley in Staffordshire.... My Nanna's name is Eugene however and not Eugenie....poor love was given a man's name... My nan also has a relative, her aunt called Olive but I dont remember anything else....
