The multiple posters are at it again.People are posting the same requests on several boards which are offering lookups.I have just wasted a good hour looking for a family which I have noticed has also been posted on another board, both requests were added within two hours of each other. What can be done to stop this happening?I like to be able to help where possible BUT I hate wasting my time and no doubt others offering lookups do to. Please DO NOT DO IT,if you post a request allow time for the request to be dealt with after all the rellies will not disappear,if they are to be found now they will still be there next week and the week after. Irritating isn't it? .as well as a waste of time. At the moment there seems to be a spate of folk, well intentioned i am sure that offer look ups...and then dont do them! That must be so irritating for the person that posted the request. -I looked for someone the other day and posted the result on the thread and got my head bitten off for doing so ! (apparently they were HER look ups!) Jess

Even more irritating are those who post and give very vague details like possibly born Surrey no year of birth, then on another thread an hour later full deyails are supplied, when they must have had all the info all the time. Never mind Jess you do a great job and there must be hundreds of members who would have got nowhere without your help. Mary

Yes I spent a lot of time on one yesterday and was just going to look for even more when I checked out the tips board and there was all the details ready done for them - obviously they hadnt even checked on someones very hard work - it wasnt an easy one.

This is why I and a lot of others dont do many lookups these days. Too many time wasters and people who think you can find things in a few seconds with very little info. Multiple posting just confuses all involved including the poster. How the hell can they follow it, I cant and I'm only reading it. I just give up!!! Margaret

I regret, that it is for this reason, I have stopped offering lookups. Now I reply to people's requests as they emerge. It's VERY disheartenng. However, when I do do lookups, I get emense pleasure if the results are favourable, and it far outways the small irritations, that I personally encounter. I really DO FEEL for you all. PLEASE don't let it get to you. Elaine ;-)
