Hi Samantha could you look up the 1861 Scottish census for me? Name John (Alexander) Gordon b 1854/55 aged about 7 or 6, born Enzie Banff, and his immediate family. If there's more than one please send all and I'll track from there. I hope to establish his parentage from this. They were probably farmers. This is very kind of you, Thanks, Chris

Many thanks for you help. The William from Gissing is most likely a relative, probably my Williams uncle at a guess. Depwade is the reg. district in Norfolk that includes Gissing, Diss, Hempnall, Long Stratton' The other one is not him as he is in Yorkshire in 1881 minus the U. Thanks again Ann

Samantha

Samantha Report 17 Nov 2005 22:48

Ann Wightmore I've found a William Haunton, (only one on 1851) Born 1821 Gissing Norfolk. I know it's not yours but could be relative of some sort? His son was an Edward born 1851 ************************************************************************** 1881 census, (only one entry again) William Haunton Born 1853 in Suffolk Wife Mary ann born Tivetshall Norfok in 1855 He's the same guy thats in the 1881 census that is in the 1901.
