Tracy, Even more confusion. Just found this, Family search has a Mary Lear 1860 born to Richard and Mary. This is in Chesterton about 5 miles away.

Milk, one sugar please :) I'll keep trying to find Richard and/or Mary. Do you have Richard and Martha in 1891 and 1901? (I guess he's probably dead by 1901 though?) Guess they're both dead by 1891. I found Albert (under Ashley) as a Lodger and Mary (under Lewis) as a Servant. Albert is Lodging with a family of Lewis'.

I just checked Staffs BMD. Thomas Lewis married Harriet Lear (nee Wycherly) in 1864. Harriet was married previously. Richard Ashley married Mary A Jones in 1859. Richard A Lear married Martha A Lewis in 1873. There is no previous marriage noted on the site. It was a 'Civil Marriage' though. Wonder what that means. Perhaps it's cos he was married before? But Thomas and Harriet married in the church, and the were both married before? I think I'm digging myself into a hole lol If I were you, I'd get the 1873 marriage to find out what's what. Saves too much confusion lol

It's 1861. I'm confused too lol The Lears that Germaine found must be related to your Richard (who I still can't find!) In 1861, the Lears and the Lewis' live next to each other. In 1871, they are married to each other! lol Richard married Thomas' daughter, who is with him in 1861, but not 1871. Wonder where she went... Anyways, I'm sure they're all connected some how lol Oh phooey... 1871 puts a downer on that... Thomas Lewis abt 1851 Stoke, Cheshire, England Head Madeley Staffordshire >>Martha Lewis abt 1849 Madeley, Staffordshire, England Wife Madeley Staffordshire Henry Lewis abt 1851 Madeley, Staffordshire, England Boarder Madeley Staffordshire Do you know if she was married before as well?
