I have been trying to find John Pratt on the 1901 census without any success. I have found him living with his parents aged 4 in the 1871 census in Wix Essex RG10/1681. In 1881 he is living with his sister at 252 Brockley rd Deptford london as a 14 year old baker's journeyman. His sister is Elizabeth Redman RG 11/0714 I think he is on the SS Lapwing in 1891 aged 23 as a steward. The age is right but he has his birthplace as Deptford London RG12/1402. I cannot find him in 1901. Be lovely if you could find him for me. Naila

In response to this request: I'm new to this so please bare with me. I'm asking if you can search for my grandfather Charles Whitham who lived in Thorpe Hesley nr Rotherham. Birth certificate of my father states he was born in 1908 so I think that would put grandad at approx 1870-1880, he was married to Annie nee Percival and was a colliery labourer. I am looking for a household for Joseph Binns (dob c1876 - very vague guess) and Ann Binns nee Wilkinson (dob c1876 - again vague guess). 3 children, possibly more that I don't know of - Arther (b c1890 - guess), Minnie (b c1895 - guess) and Frank Thompson (dob 19/7/1898). LMP I'm sorry. I've tried every spelling variation I can think of. Looked through each name and every combination I can and can't find even one of them. I think they were spirited away by aliens. How could I not even find one? It's really gotten under my skin and they aren't even my family ;) They have to be there somewhere!!!!!!!!!!! Could they have emigrated?
