I now know the older George did not die until 1843 so should appear on the 1841 census. His oldest son was called John and was certainly alive then and possibly lived until 1881.

Thanks for that I had not realised 1861 was now on Ancestry so thanks for pointing that out. If anyone has access to the earlier years I would be interested in those.

I am looking for information on the Shallcross family in Northwich. They lived at Crum Hill in 1871. There was George born around 1835 and his wife Mary Ann and his mother Alice born around 1795 and his father was George born around 1800 but I do not know when he died it might have been before 1841. Both Georges were shoemakers.
