anyone else need the instructions ?

Smiley Report 19 May 2005 16:30

Thank you for the instructions, I've done it because it was giving me a headache! but I still don't like it, we shouldn't have to change the settings on our PC's to cope with GR's unwanted & imo totally unwarranted changes. The other sites I use have lost the underlining that I have always been used to now, so they look awful. Put it back the way it was, for goodness sake. I'm going to email them Sam

McDitzy Report 19 May 2005 16:41

you're right Sam. But I highly doubt that they will listen. They haven't with anything else..... it's not just that it's the topping up of the fee and then making all these changes (and sometimes a slow site) without even asking us what we thought of it. Grrrrr.

PS - we are what makes tihs site work in the first place, they wouldn't have one without paying members adding their trees, and posting on the boards helping people out etc, and yet they still don't listen!

Smiley Report 19 May 2005 16:44

I agree Chloe, I'll still email them anyway. There...DONE! I've never emailed to comment on anything before, I ended with .... ''Does our paid membership count for anything these days?'' I think we already know that answer to that one :(

GR's response............ ''Thanks for your email. Genes Reunited attempts at all time to follow accessibility guidelines so that our website is easy to use for everyone. This includes underlining links to show users what they can click to access further information. We were concerned that some users who are less familiar with the message boards were unsure how to use the boards, read threads etc. This is why we decided to underline all links. When we initiated the changes, the font size on the message boards became small on some members' computers. As a result we increased the standard font size on the boards and increased the spacing between threads to make it easier to browse over the page. If you find any of the text on Genes Reunited too small, please follow our guidelines for making the text bigger across the site. Regards Estelle''

Smiley Sammy - that reply from GR is the biggest load of bo****ks I've seen for some time from them. The way they have the site designed, altering the links so they are underlined should have NO effect on the text size. However, altering the font size and line spacing at their end is something THEY have decided to do. Frankly I think the whole thing is a mess and whoever dreamed this up on their webdesign team needs to take a permanent holiday. Grumpy Jools
