Hi Zoe Don't give up, you could try following another family line. Unfortunately once you get pre-1837 it gets much more difficult to find any information as there were no birth/marriage/death certificates to help. Parish Records are usually the only way of continuing. Some are available online (non of the ones I want though!) or you could try posting a thread with a title that reflects what you actually want - something like 'Anyone Going to Canterbury Records Office' or similar. That way, anyone who is making a visit will look at your thread and may be kind enough to look up the people you are after. good luck Sam

To everyone who has helped me on my way, I really appreciate it. But I think I will give up as a bad job. I seem to come across wrong totally wrong. I am not a horrible person who wants now just a little frustrated with no money to travel. This was my new found hobby after having a baby and finally getting her to sleep through the night. Thanks again to everyone for all your help. Zoe x

Zoe, You've had lots of people helping you over the past few days when you have posted this request about 5 times. Lots of people (including me) have checked Ancestry and various other sites and not been able to find a birth or marriage for Thomas. You will have to check the Parish Records as all other methids have been exhausted. Once you get this far back there really is no other way to do it. I have nudged your other thread up, in case you haven't seen any of the replies on it. Sam

Zoe If you are hoping to find all the answers to your family history research on this site, or even online, then you will have to wait a long time. There comes a point when you have to get to the records office/local history centre/archives. I have got a HUGE amount of information from various sites on the internet, but most of my census look-ups have been done at the Family Records Centre in London and I have been to Kew, Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies, Essex Records Office, Richmond Local History Centre and Cambridge Records Office in the last 6 months alone. My husband's cousin had to trace her family tree entirely by going to records offices as it was done pre-Internet. As she lived in America, she had to do it all in trips over here. nell

There is a Thomas and Mary Twyman on the 1881 census born 1811 in Kent...just them as a couple...google Latter day saints and check it out...then maybe someone will do a lookup for 1871 and back for you. UPDATE>>> He is 70 and she is 72 both born Kent....living at Old Vicarage, Hackington St. Stephen, Kent. Anne :))
