Karen thanks for trying to find Thomas Bunyan. He has been nothing but trouble to me. Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been on a trip of my own over the weekend. Nothing to do with Genes though. Taking a 4 year old across London on a trip to Liverpool to visit my Grandson. Just got home full of cold and feeling very sorry for myself. All the best Shirley

Hi Karen, Thank you so much for taking the time to look for the parish record entry. The fact that William was down as coming from St. Ebbes, Oxford matches what i know of him, so i'm certain this is the marriage i was looking for!! Thanks again, Pippa

Karen, Looks like you had a busy time at the records office! Thanks for the look up - i'll keep looking for the marriage .The birth looks interesting. Had thought Robert was the father as he was the only one on 41 census old enough...and there were a total of 4 vigggers families named for Horley!Thought the mother was Sarah...guess i'm looking for a death record for a Sarah and possible remarriage of Robert to Mary....Something else to look for!! Thanks once again, Regards, Karen

PIPPA WINTER The witnesses were Thomas Dumbleton and John Smith. William Dawson was from St Ebbs, Oxford. Ann West I think must have been from Elsfield as there was nothing mentioned against her name. No fathers names were mentioned as this information wasnt recorded on marriage entries until 1837. PLEASE NOTE THIS INFORMATION WAS TAKEN FROM TRANSCRIPTIONS, I DID NOT SEE THE ORIGINAL PARISH RECORDS.

STEVE MOSS I'm sorry but there are so many churches in the Oxford area I didnt have time to go through them to search for the marriage. Best bet would be to order the certificate from GRO.

CATHERINE JOHNSTON I found the book "Paupers of the City of Oxford 1853 - 1929". There were no mentions of a Lily Augusta Wall Harris, there were two Emily Harris's mentioned :- 1856 Emily Harris age 13 yrs Comments - Died March 1855/56 1898 Emily Harris age 28 Comments - Ex Headington 2/98 Lunatic in Littlemore Asylum

KAREN JOHNSON There were lots of different spelling variations of Viggers :- Viggors, Vigors, Viggers, Viggars, Vigars and Vigours. I didnt have any success finding the marriage of Mary to William, there was no mention of this marriage in the Horley transcriptions (maybe they were married in Hampton In Arden - I dont know where this is to know which county it is in) The only baptism record at Horley Church I could find for a William searching under all of the above spellings around the time span you said was the following :- 6 Nov 1808 William Vigars son of Robert and Mary

IRENE SEABROOK Yours I had the most success with. PLEASE NOTE THESE WERE TAKEN FROM TRANSCRIPTIONS, I DID NOT SEE THE ORIGINAL PARISH RECORDS. I found William Strouds baptism record :- William Stroud Baptised at Wootton Church - 18 August 1833 son of James and Fanny Stroud, occupation of James, Mason. I also found siblings for William :- Thomas bap 28/8/1814 Charles bap 8/1/1816 Henry bap 30/11/1817 Richard bap 5/11/1819 James bap 17/1/1822 Susannah bap 1/2/1824 Robert bap 27/3/1826 Elizabeth bap 9/12/1827 George bap 5/6/1836 I may have also found Williams parents marriage (although down as John not James) :- John Stroud (bachelor) married Fanny Hedges (spinster) on 30 December 1813 at Wootton Church. Both of this parish. Banns were read. Witnesses were a Caroline and Thomas Hdges. I also found the William Stroud and Esthers marriage entry :- November 23 1854 St Marys Church in Wootton William Stroud - full age - Bachelor - occupation Mason - Father James Stroud - Fathers occupation Mason married Esther Skerrett (note different spelling) - full age - Spinster - Father John Skerrett - Fathers occupation Innkeeper They were both of this parish and banns were read. Witnesses were William & Susannah Webley.

PATRICIA OVERTON The only Mary Ann Smith's baptism I could find for at Launton church was an Mary Ann Smith who was baptised January 15 1860, parents George and Mary Ann Smith. I checked over a 10 year span - 5 years either side of 1855. Karen

SHIRLEY FROM STROOD I looked at the St Mary the Virgin Church records in Thame for Thomas Bunyans burial, but there were no sign of it I also looked under other spellings incase it had been spelt different. This is the only church in Thame that they had records for (I dont know if there are any other churches in Thame). I couldnt find any records for the Workhouse. Sorry I wasnt able to find your Thomas Bunyan for you. Karen

Hi Karen, If you have any time left after your own research and others lookups, could you could look for an entry in the parish records for me. I have the entry from the IGI website, but would like to know the info from the actual entry i.e. fathers names, witnesses e.t.c. The marriage was between William Dawson and Ann West . It took place on 23 May 1830 in Elsfield, Oxon. Thanks, Pippa
