Hi Sue, Ann Batty is on the 1851 Census living with Elizabeth Batty( her Ma in law) at Gills Yard Northgate. Elizabeth herself was widowed. Julie Marshfield found them for me. Ann was widowed by then. She was in her early 30s. The census says that Elizabeth and kin were from Ardley but I'm wondering if it should be Ardsley. Now, I dont know if Ann Batty nee Collett is herself from Ardley/Ardsley or if she is a local lass who married a Batty when they moved into the area. I havent found a marriage at St Johns for Ann Collett and you havent found one at All Saints. Have you any marriage info from Ardley/Ardsley?? Sue xx |

Hi Sue, I did a search for Sykes Row and on Genuki it says it was in Leeds in Pigot's Directory of 1829 for professions and trades. I looked on a route finder and it says it's near Holbeck, off Neville Street. It seems to be right in the centre of Leeds. Regards Di |

Sue, would you be able to check a marriage for Ann Collett to David Batty (or any Batty for that matter) I have the records for St Johns and no where can I find Ann. Julie Rusby is being brill and trying to help me with the census. Ann was widowed by the 1861 census so thats the cut off point. David (her possible husband was born in 1819) Ta Sue Sue xx |

Sue, thank you for looking. I have very little information other than my gg grandmother Charlotte Hepworth was born in Wakefield (baptized 1809 Wakefield daughter of Aaron and Betty). The secretary of Yorkshire Parish Registers very kindly looked for a marriage for me in Wakefield - the only Betty/Elizabeth & Aaron marriage she found was in Halifax in Feb 1800. Given that Charlotte was born in Wakefield, I was hoping that Aaron and Betty might still be alive and might appear there. Charlotte was in London by 1841, married to my gg grandfather William Knapp. thank you for any help you can give - I am aware that Hepworth is a common name! Linda |

Hi Sue Jane Elizabeth Hitchen was living in Sykes Row when she married in 1866 in Leeds. She was 23 at the time of her marriage so that would make her birth year around 1843. Hope this helps Regards Di |
