Can someone check occupation on 1841 please

Hi Angela Thanks for adding your thoughts The witnesses are Joseph Thaw and James looks like Theldrick No clues there l'm afraid they could have been anyone Just having Oldham as an address on hte cert doesn't help much either. Were'nt giving much away were they!! This is the worst piece of family research l've come accross l had better luck with Morris!! l didn't realise Tipping was such a common name Thanks again Pam

That's a good idea of Sophie's, but could work out expensive! I've checked that William on 1851/1861 & he's still calling himself a farmer - no mention of a pub! Do the witnesses on the marriage cert hold any clues? Angela

Pam I know it doesn't help you to decide if this is the right William or not, but in my experience people often used to combine jobs like Publican with other occupations. Angela for what it's worth, I think the image says farmer.

Pam .isnt hasnt been struck out .its the enumerators tick on it when he was compiling his records. It looks like landsman ,rather than Ag lab of the one above him . The children havent any occupations recorded for them . Shirley

Hi Sophie kindly gave me the following family but on the heads occupation it had Landsman with a strike through but Sophie couldn't read what had been written in its place Details Could l also have any occupations of children please William Tipping c1791 age 50 Sarah age 50 wife Mary 25 daughter Sarah 20 daughter Thomas 15 son William 15 son Alice 7 daughter source citation class 10107. piece 95. book 7. civil parish. Halton. County Cheshire. Enumeratiuon district 11. folio 5 page 4 line 24 gs roll 241235 Hundred Bucklow l didn't know what of the above was needed so put it all in l am trying to trace back from a marriage certificate recieved this morning between John Tipping c1811 (though gives different birth year on later census in Liverpool) Boilermaker is his occupation on every census Maria Clegg b 1812 Rochdale daughter of James a Weaver John says his father was a publican They gave address as Oldham and were married at Prestwich 1839 both say they were of age.
