There is a John Goodlet, born 1/2/1816, St Cuthberts, Edinburgh, son of Samuel Goodlet and Joan Price. The only other one to fit the dates was born St Vigeans, Angus, son of John Goodlet and Jane Law. If you want to have the certs you'll need to buy credits on ScotlandsPeople. It's £6 for 30 credits and it is 5 credits/cert. Janice

I am searching for information about John Johnson who emmigrated to Scotland from Sweden in the 1800s. I don't have a specific date but know that he then emmigrated to Australia and married here in 1859. I am after info about his leaving Sweden and going to Scotland, mainly info on his Swedish side but the rest may help. His Swedish name was Worstein and he had a brother Gustavis but when John got to Scotland he became a naturalised subject and took on the English version of Johnson. I don't know if Gustavis went to Scotland too. I don't know his parents in Sweden and I really want to know that branch. He married a girl called Anne Goodlet in Australia but she arrived here in 1859. Their marriage certificate puts his name as Johnston but I have always believed he was Johnson and the descendants all have Johnson as theirs and my name. Anne's parents were John Goodlet and Dianna Hislop but I am at a dead end with them too only they lived and am presuming born around Edinburgh. I have found John Goodlet in the 1841 census as being 25 and born in Edinburgh and was a Shoemaker which is correct and last was a shoemaker in West Bone. I am John's great granddaughter. Many thanks for any help. Pamela Johnson
