Can anyone help me solve a puzzle, I have discovered two sets of parents for Thomas Lawton, born 1748 in Talke, Audley, Staffs. I've just gone back to Familysearch.org which is where I had sourced my gtgtgtgtgrandfather's details - Thomas Lawton born 1774 in Audley. His parents are stated as Thomas Lawton and Esther Wilkinson, but there seems to be a difference of 'opinion' of their parents. One lot of researchers are stating Thomas' grandparents are William Lawton (1708) and Elizabeth Hambleton (1713), while others are stating they are Thomas Lawton (1709) and Sarah Spencer (1712). I don't know how to unravel this mystery. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Thanks Karen

Thanks for that suggestion but I can't seem to find any Audley parish records online. I'll have to remove them from my family tree until I can confirm which set of parents are my relatives. Karen
