You can download Navy records for WW1 from the ( I think) National Archives site - £3.50 per record but well worth it. Jill

The RAF wasnt formed until about 1918 so before that the air corps was part of the army - you could have a look on the National Archives for info. The WW2 RAF records you can receive free if you are the airman or widow or you can buy it if you are his next of kin for £30. I just googled and got this further information for you: Royal Air Force Service Records Personnel Records Royal Air Force personnel records are held at RAF Innsworth. If service number and details are known, please quote it in correspondence. Innsworth will only divulge information to the person to whom it refers or, if he or she has died, to his or her immediate next of kin. Anyone else must obtain written permission from the person about whom they are enquiring, or from his or her next of kin, before any information will be given to them. Innsworth make a charge of £30.00 for any information they provide; cheques made payable to 'MOD Funds'. The only people exempt from charge are the person to whom the records refer or their widow or widower. The address is: PMA IM1b (RAF) Room 5 Building 248A Personnel Management Agency Innsworth Gloucester GL3 1EZ

Hi, Thank you all for your kind help. I shall be looking into them all. My Uncle served in the RAF in WW2 so I shall certainly give them all a go. My husband's Grandfather went down with his ship the 'Goliath' 1915 in the Dardinelles. Once again, many thanks to you all Mo
