I am trying tofind more infor on my Dad's Great uncle. He was born Harry Tomkins Sept quarter 1880 in Portsea, Hampshire. on the 1881 census he was living with the family at 64 Toronto Road, Portsea. By 1884 the family had moved to Nottingham then by 1892 to Birminham. Sometime between 1897 to 1898 the family moved to Kingston-Upon-Thames. I have found a reference for a Harry marring a Mary Elizabeth Shackson. Now I lose the trail after this. I can not find them on the 1901 census. I have been told by another relative that he was in the 3rd battalion of the coldstream Guards but i do not know how or if I can verify this. Can anyone help???

Oh dear. Well, perhaps you should see if you can find Mary the wife on her own now or with relatives.

If that one in Wandsworth isnt him and he was in the Army then he may well have been away in the Boar war in 1901,have you checked for any army records on the National Archives site
