Also, some service records in series WO363 - not yet on Ancestry-, mention payments to widows and children. If you go to Kew and William Spencer is there that day, seek him out - he is so knowledgeable. |

Sean Some pension info is available at The National Archives. In William Spencer’s book ‘Army Service Records of the First World War’ – I’ve found it very useful. He does mention that brief details concerning pensions paid to a number of widows whose husbands died between 1914 and 1918 can be found in PIN 82, this is only a 183 separate pieces each listing 50 servicemen. Also PIN 26 / 17179 – 19720 contains widows’ pension details. If you can I'd recommend a visit to TNA in Kew – the staff are really very helpful, they also have a very good website if visiting is not an option. Hope this helps Rachel |

I don't think so? I seem to remember that war widows had to fight for the pensions and they only won the fight in the last 20/30 or so years I am sure that someone will correct me if i am wrong Roy |
