Trying to find Atkins

Ellen Palmer (25/7/2007) ATKINS/FERGUSON Can anyone help me please? I'm trying to trace my father's family. He was James Edward Atkins, born early 1920's (I believe in Walsall) to Joseph Atkins, who worked on the railways, and Annie Atkins (nee Ferguson). Grandad Joseph dies in an accident at work when dad was only about 18 months old, so I guess circa 1923/24 and gran married again to a John (Jack) Gilkes and had 3 daughters (Frances, Elizabeth and Margaret). Gran died in the 1960's (if my memory is correct). Sadly dad also died in 1989. I believe that either grandad Joseph or gran Annie or maybe even both, came from families living in or around the Dudley area. I seem to have hit a brick wall as I can't find any evidence in census records of any of them. As I knew both sets of my maternal great grandparents who were all still alive when I was born, I really feel I'm missing something by knowing nothing about my paternal great grandparents - I don't even know their names. I'd be really grateful for any help Ellen
