Trying to find McKie

McKie I am trying to find information about my gt. grandfather George McKie. My grandfather also George McKie (1881 born in Middlesbrough) told me that his father had run away from his home in Scotland at an early age and was unable to read or write. He married a Mary Ann Lawson in Middlesbrough in 1878 and did indeed 'make his mark' in the register. At this time he gave his age as 28 and the certificate states that his deceased father also called George McKie had been a block and mast maker. So - if anyone has lost a George McKie born about 1850 from their family tree I would love to hear from them.
