Michael Sloan 1829 (Ireland) Mary Kelly 1836 Londonderry.........Left Ireland (c) 1860, Arthur Joseph Sloan born Aldershot 1862, not recorded, remaining children born in Carlisle, where Michael worked in the Iron works as a labourer. 4 Surviving children, Arthur 1862, Mary Ann 1869 John 1871, Isabella 1873. Arthur married Mary Stewart, born Gateshead, but granddaughter of James Stewart, noted Carlisle Architect.........Mary Ann married but died 1900, Isabella married William Wetton 1891, widowed 1897. Although i do have a fair amount of data on the descendants I wonder if other Sloan family members came over as well, and if you have them in your tree. If you recognise any of these details, please get in touch.....Life was very tough for these irish immigrants, and it is almost as tough trying to find out their histories. Avryll |
