Trying to find Walton

TOM WALTON Searching through some old books I have just discovered the name of my mother's father. My gran never married, Tom left her pregnant. I remember being told the story but it's lost in the midst of time. He sent money to support my dear old mum, she had to go and collect it much to her embarassment. Mum was born in 1920, so Tom would have been around the Stapleton/Womersely (Yorks) area in 1919. Perhaps he was in the army, I know my gran worked at Darrington Hall around that time. Does anyone know anthing about Tom? The name Heckmondwike is written alongside his name on the paper I found. Lynne

Hi Lynne,

I have just discovered a part of my family who come from the Walton side and we did have a Tom P Walton in our family the only thing I know is that he was aged 17 at the time of the 1901 Census so that makes his date of birth somewhere around 1884 that would make him about 35 in 1919. Unfortunately, as I have only just found him I have no clue where he went but in 1901 he was living in London and even though all his family were Tailors or dressmakers he was an Engineering Mechanic?

If you have any further information I would love to hear from you, it may be a long shot but you never know.

I can be contacted at [email protected] if you wish to

Thanks

Debby

Heckmondwike is in West Yorkshire. There are a few Thomas Walton's in the 1901 census but none that say they were born Heckmondwike but if you look on FreeBMD that particular area is listed under Dewsbury. Good luck Irene
