Walshaw derives from the place Walshaw nr Hebden Bridge in yorkshire and is of anglo-saxon origin. the 1st recorded spelling was John Walshawe 22/04/1551 on christening records in Halifax. Walshaw actually means 'the copse of the foreigner or Briton' |
