	Did he have offspring? The birth cert of any of them (if registered) would provide you with MMN. You could then find the marriage, the cert for which would tell you his father's details. Reg

	HE WAS BORN 1844 HEBBURN IT MAY BE IN CO DURHAM OR TYNE AND WEAR IM NOT SURE WHICH. HE MARRIED ELIZABETH FROM WASHINGTON TYNE AND WEAR AROUND 1864 I LOOKED ALL OVER AND CANT FIND HE PARENTS . THANK-YOU JEANETTE
