BTW...have you got the details of the birthplaces for the daughters?

Elizabeth is down in 1851 as having been born in Marlow, Bucks.....Eliza as Richmond, Surrey

I have found a will of Susannah's which mentions her family. Dated 1843 she leaves Richard, Elizabeth and Eliza Stanford, Rebecca and William Oxley equal shares of her possessions. I'll look for the Oxleys and see what the link is. Rebecca is the daughter of Richard and Susannah and William Oxeys wife. (as written in the will)

Right now I really am stuck.
On looking at the will of both Richard and Susannah Stanford they both leave equal shares to daughters Eliza, Elizabeth, Richard and Rebecca. IGI shows these children as being the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth but no sign of Susannah. Does this mean that Elizabeth and Susannah could be one and the same or do you think he could have married twice?. Obviously I don't have surnames for Elizabeth or Susannah.
Grrr.

Is the record on the IGI "submitted" or "extracted"?

If "submitted" treat with EXTREME caution.

Submitted records are just that ........ submitted by members of the Mormon church, and it is gradually being realised that many of those records have been invented!

Extracted records have been taken from the parish records, but should still be treated with caution ............. mispellings and mistakes are common, just as they are with the censuses.

Sylvia
Sorry not to have replied sooner.
I have found the children on IGI and FreeBMD. I'm certain that the children are those of Wm and Elizabeth as they are lnkled to my family but wonder where Susannah comes in as she mentions them all in her will as well as Richard her husband does in his. (They say they are their children) The children inferred to are Elizabeth, Eliza, Richard and Rebecca. Rebecca married a Wm Oxley and is also mentioned in the will.
Could Susannah and Elizabeth be the same person? Elizabeth's maiden name is Wilson but I can't find a Susannah Wilson or Elizabeth S Wilson.
Sorry to go on.

They could possibly be the same person ........ many people on here mention that their ancestors change names.

BUT ...............

Could Susannah be a second wife?

ie, Richard married Elizabeth Wilson, she died, and he then married Susannah

Hi Sylvia
I agree but I can't find a marriage as yet for Richard and Susannah.
Back to the drawing board!
