Hi Helen - sorry for delay - been away for weekend -
what I actually want to do is find him as a child with his parents, so I can start tracing them backwards, but I don't think I've got enough info to send for his birth certificate

Annie,

If you go to www.freebmd.org.uk and put Crossley/Waterhouse in a search for births in Bradford after 1907, it looks as though there were two sons - Harry in 1913 and Fred in 1919. The birth certificates should show where the Crossley family were living at the time.

Have just recieved the marriage cert which gives dads name as James Ernest Crossley, and res at time of marriage as Heath street in Laisterdyke, county of York, but I still can't find him
I don't know where to look next - has anyone please got any ideas

Looking for Ernest Crossley b.1888ish, who married Rosetta Waterhouse in 1907 in Bradford
