many thanks for your extensive information. i had the family at fitzroy st, ashton.

they were my great grandparents

there is a family secret, my mother says that HUGH and ELIZABETH didn't marry until my grandfather was about 40. according to my mother there was another family too but she does not have any details, it was all discussed in whispers behind closed doors, big scandal!!!

my grandfather was THOMAS BRIDGELAND LLOYD born 21/11/1901 died sept 1991

after him came ALICE then ELIAS

CHARLOTTE married RUBEN DEWSNAP in aug 1928

i knew the family from charlotte down but had never heard of URIAS or HANNAH so i got curious

recently i was looking through some of my grandfathers effects and i found charlotte and rubens marriage certificate and her father is named as URIAS......this is confusing!

i am awaiting my mother searching for my grandparents certificates to see what they reveal

On the 1901 census in 257 Fitzroy Street, Ashton under Lyne Lancashire:

Hugh Lloyd c1865 Baghult, Wales, Coal Miner
Elizabeth c1872 Tyldesley (Wife)
Urias c1889 Tyldesley
Hannah c1898 Earlestown
Charlotte c1900 Earlestown

Urias Lloyd born Mar 1889 Leigh Volume 8c page 312.

Possibly not connected, but Urias Lloyd does seem an unusual name.

On the 1891 census in Tyldesley Lancashire:

Urias Lloyd c1865 Cefn Denbighshire, Coal Miner
Mary c1868 Cefn Denbighshire (Wife)
Urias c1889 Tyldesley
Annie c1890 Tyldesley

Urias Lloyd married Dec 1887 Leigh Volume 8c page 363, a Mary Hughes is on the same page.
