Hi Traci, thanks for the offer of a look up, I have my Aunt Charlotte Greenwoods information actualy going to America in 1929, I would like you to look in the 1930 census for me please if you would.
Miss Charlotte Greenwood born 1892 Preston England, I have been told that she went to work as a nurse companion to a RAE family in Atlantic city, I also have information that she went to stay with her cousin Mary Ellen Greenwood born 1879 Halifax, but don't know which household she is staying at.
Thanks again
Regards

Hi Traci,
I asked Lorraine weeks ago and I don't think that she is around to do this at the moment, so although it's not normal to ask someone else could you take a look please?
It's great of you to offer to do this, I know it must take a lot of your time doing something like this so thanks in advance.

I am trying to trace the following family who moved to the USA between 1871 ( England census) and 1880.
I have pasted the 1880 American census entry that I have from the free Ancestry.com site, with which format you are probably familiar, and I would like to know more about what happened to the family in America,
Can you help please?

Census Place West New Brighton, Richmond (Staten Island), New York City-Greater, New York
Household:
Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace

Thomas LEIGH Self M Male W 48 ENG Hand In Dye Factory ENG ENG
Rachael LEIGH Wife M Female W 43 ENG Keeping House WALES WALES
Squire LEIGH Son S Male W 18 ENG Hand In Dye Factory ENG ENG
Maria LEIGH Dau S Female W 11 ENG Attending School ENG ENG
Levenia LEIGH Dau S Female W 10 ENG Attending School ENG ENG
Thomas LEIGH Son S Male W 7 ENG Attending School ENG ENG

This is an entry from a few doors down and could be the eldest son Thomas.

William LEIGH Self M Male W 25 ENG Hand In Dye Factory ENG ENG
Catharine LEIGH Wife M Female W 24 IRE Keeping House IRE IRE

I know that they travelled over from Liverpool in the "City of Richmond" in 1873 and have found them in the passenger lists.
I would be grateful if you could help trace them further.

Regards,
Alan

Tracey,

There's a possibility that my ancestor emigrated to Canada/USA at around 1881. He was William Tinkler (b. 1839). I have tried the Canadian 1901 census, but with no luck. If you can try all of your sources I'd be very grateful.

Many thanks,
Robin Tinkler

Hi Tracy,
Please can you check Saskatchewan deaths for a William McIntosh born Scotland 1854.He farmed in the Dunelm county in SW Saskatchewan near Swift Current and was there in the 1811 census, with wife Elizabeth about seven years younger than himself. He may have died in 1933 but that is not certain.
Grateful for the look-up.

Tracey

I do hope you can help me

I saw on Ancestry Canada, on the Canadian Immigrant Record, a Edith Robinson. I cannot read the year (being in UK) and then Source/event.
Can you help please?

Then I saw under Canada Births
Theodore Allen Robinson
then cannot read
date gender Kent name (surname) and name (surname) The 'Kent' should be UK
A rough guess he was born 1900 +10/15 years!
Thats all the info I wrote down, when I saw it - do hope you can help

Can you see Border Crossings as well?
I saw a Louisa A. Young, Buffalo, NY, USA
Thats a bit vague, but perhaps you can find it.

Many, many thanks
Jo

Hi
Tracy, Can I please ask for your help again. My gr uncle Thomson Mason (middle name possibly Lawrie) sailed from Liverpool to Quebec age 16 on 3rd May 1929, he was 16 years old, on the Letitia. Parents Thomson Lawrie Mason and Agnes Canning. He died a number of years ago in Canada. I do not know where he lived, but wondered as his name is unusual if you could find a marriage for him. Any info would be great. I know his children etc remain in Canada and I would like to contact them.

Thank you
Joy

Hi Helen,

So many on Alexander (no idea what his birth year) on passengers list and other things, but no marriage for him in Ontario.

Did he go to Michigan, Detroit?

If so.. Tried marriage there but this what Ancestry have

Michigan Marriages to 1850
Michigan Marriages, 1851-75

None later, sadly.
