I think the Melia census is a pretty close match don't you? It might explain why my Aunt keeps referring to "our Irish routes"

Do wish they wouldn't talk in riddles when askedabout family history

No I dont Mellie. All we have is that my Grandfather didn't actually remember his Dad at all. So, from that, I assume he may have died when he was a small child? It is an assumption though

damandblast Report 22 Sep 2007 21:16

Not a blooming clue but I think census pn the 1st page had himdown as born c 1870? So 1906 would make him 36. Try under that.

That could stack with the family theory that she married 3 times but blimey, it would seem that she wasn't very lucky in love if that was the case.

So, I am now looking for somebody Melia marrying an Elizabeth somebody lol. How long is our piece of string? And, this poor Melia person possibly dying prior to 1901 (her marriage date to John Wright) and I suppose we might find John Wright dying prior to 1906 when it appears she may have married William Travis?

Is it always this complicated?

Brilliant! Will order William Henry and see what it says but hey, skeleton just popped out of closet if it is proven lol!

Sept 1906 qtr? William Henry Junior was registered in June 1906.

And what one earth happened to the two other babies fathered by John Wright? Grandad never mentioned them at all.

Funny isnt it? The more questions you answer the more questions you get.
