hi ya i would wast your money on the wed cert as it said she married either a Roberts or a Wright

i would wait for the birth cert to come through

william (dad) could of ben married to a melia but she could of married before him and married under her first married name instead of maiden name.

i say wait see what the birth says and we can then look for the correct marraige (or two) rather then waste your money.

Rumour has it that Elizabeth was married a few times. Think she may have married John Wright and then he either died or she divorced (not common then though), thing is, if she married Mr Wright (pardon the pun) maybe I might find an Elizabeth Wright marriage to William Henry in Free BMD? What do you think? I understand that she may have married3 time because there is a possibility that William Henry the elder died young too.

Oh how I wish someof the family were still around to ask!!!!

Yes, West Derby is an old registration district of Liverpool. Think the boundaries have changed at some time though . Will order that birth cert reference provided by Mellie :- and see what it reveals. Thanks.

Think I will be brave and order the Elizabeth Melia cert too, will be so disappointed if it proves a red herring lol.

Can anybody find anything out about her? I have tried before and not got anywhere.

Be great to finally prove the information on this line.

Pretty sure it will be the West Derby birth.

There is a marriage in Sept. qtr. 1897 for Elizabeth Melia in West Derby. You have the correct numbers, but there is no matching entry for William Henry Travis in the same qtr.

I apolgise if I have posted this on the wrong bit of the boards, don't post often and I am unsure of the correct protocol.

To explain my problem though.

My maternal line is Travis, all born Liverpool as far as we can tell.

Fact.
William Henry Travis born 01/07/1906, Mislaid reference number so need to find it again so that I can order copy of birth cert. ( I moved house and packed my info!)

Fact
William Henry Travis married Florence Primrose Saphier (might be Primrose Florence but not important), Marriage cert held and recorded on FreeBMD too. The Saphier line is interesting and has been investigated by me previously.

Fact
William Henry's father is shown as William Henry on the marriage cert.

Fact or fiction? William Henry the elder married somebody with a last name of Melia? This is according to family folk lore :-)

FreeBMD doesn't seem to recognise it at the moment but, I have note of a previous FreeBMD reference of Sept Qtr 1897 Marriage, Elizabeth Melia, West Derby 8b 963, I dont understand why I cant get it now?

Fact or fiction, William Henry the elder father is called Thomas? Could have been on a census somewhere?

I seem to recall that a lot of Liverpool's info is available through a diferent website? Anybody got any information?

It's proving very difficult to get back past this point unless I just make assumptions and, as we all know, they can lead you straight up a blind alley.

Pls help as I am getting very frustrated aat not being able to find my reference points again.
